Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the general preference for cafe visits over other options. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. While you identify the trends, the description of the data is occasionally imprecise, such as using 'moderately above 45 percent' for a range that is quite broad. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the specific cities and categories mentioned in the chart. Some comparisons are made, but they could be more analytical by highlighting the most significant differences or similarities rather than just listing figures city by city.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use transition words like 'Overall', 'Firstly', and 'Lastly' to guide the reader. However, the cohesion within sentences is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as in the phrase 'the brisbane and adelaide represents, approximately same percentage'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive devices to link ideas more fluidly. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal logical progression needs more refinement to ensure a smoother reading experience.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'downward trend' and 'significantly higher'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'percentage of people who consumes' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'picking up a fresh coffee'. Additionally, there are consistent issues with capitalization, such as 'sydney', 'melbourne', and 'australian', which should always be capitalized. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that proper nouns are correctly formatted throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of information. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the brisbane and adelaide represents'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'in last four week'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure will significantly improve your score.
