The bar graph illustrates the outcomes of citizen's habits of buying and drinking coffee and tea in Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart in last four weeks.

In contrast, popularity of instant coffee remained relatively moderate for all the cities. But Hobart just below 60% and Brisbane around 53% noticed significantly more buyers than other cities. Fresh coffee recorded smallest number of people where Sydney exhibited approximately 44% consumers, while Brisbane and Adelaide showed up with around 34% and 34.5% customers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the survey. You have successfully selected data to support your points, such as the percentages for cafe visits and coffee types. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by inaccuracies in interpreting the data; for instance, you state that Melbourne accounted for the highest number of people, but the chart shows Hobart and Sydney often having higher figures in certain categories. Additionally, the overview is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, ensure your data points are precisely extracted and that your summary clearly highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on different categories. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the repetitive use of 'While' and 'Whereas' at the start of sentences. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the referencing of cities could be smoother to improve the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear central theme would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'illustrates', 'outcomes', 'popularity', and 'moderate'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'Melbourne relatively accounted for highest number' (should be 'had the highest percentage') and 'remained stably a lower' (should be 'remained stable at a lower level'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your descriptive language is grammatically integrated into the sentence structure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the highest number', 'a lowest number'), prepositions ('visited to a cafe'), and subject-verb agreement. Some sentences are slightly disjointed due to these errors. For example, 'Fresh coffee recorded smallest number of people where Sydney exhibited...' lacks necessary articles and clear structure. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically the correct use of articles and prepositions, which would make your writing much more professional and easier to read.
