Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the popularity of cafes and the lower preference for fresh coffee. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the statement that 'people who bought instant coffee are almost equal in every city' is not fully supported by the data, which shows noticeable variations. Additionally, the comparison between cities is occasionally confusing, such as the claim about Hobart versus Adelaide. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that all comparisons are precise and directly supported by the figures provided in the chart, avoiding vague generalizations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'Coming to the least preferred', they are sometimes applied mechanically. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track which city or category is being discussed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher score. You rely on basic descriptors like 'most preferred' and 'least liked' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'public interest towards tea and coffee' and 'the least preferred city to visit coffee shop'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated vocabulary related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'marginal', or 'proportion', to describe the trends more accurately and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'people mostly who live in Australia', 'Melbourne is having highest percentage', and 'there are only one in two people to visit cafe'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'the cafe', 'a cafe') are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for articles and prepositions would be beneficial.
