Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the trends in cafe culture and the preference for instant coffee. However, the analysis could be improved by being more precise with the data. For instance, stating 'more than 60%' is accurate, but you could have explicitly contrasted the highest and lowest figures to provide a more comprehensive overview. The summary is clear, but ensure that all comparisons are fully supported by the data provided in the chart to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and supporting body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally smooth. You use some cohesive devices like 'Similarly' and 'while', which help connect the sentences. However, the transition between the overview and the specific data could be more sophisticated. Additionally, some sentences feel slightly disjointed. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus to enhance the overall flow of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cafe culture', 'consumption', and 'residents'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'claimed of buying' (should be 'claimed to have bought') and 'reported less than 35% of fresh coffee purchase' (should be 'reported fresh coffee purchases of less than 35%'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Incorporating more specific collocations related to data interpretation would strengthen your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the city population are' (should be 'the city populations are' or 'the city population is') and 'chose their drink' (should be 'choose'). Additionally, 'Silmilarly' contains a spelling error. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, as you are describing survey results which generally require the present tense.
