The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar chart graph gives the data of a survey about the purchasing of coffee and tea and consuming habits of people of five Australian cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart. The data is from last 4 weeks.

Overall, the percentage of people that went to cafe for coffee and tea is highest in all the cities except Adelaide. Whereas, the consumption of fresh coffee is minimum throughout in all the five cities.

The percentage of cafe visitors is maximum and same for Melbourne and Hobart at approximately 64%. Sydney is at 61 percent, while Brisbane is at 55% and Adelaide is at minimum by 50%.

Following the purchase of instant coffee Hobart is at top by having 54 percent consumers, while Brisbane is down by only 2 percent. Melbourne and Sydney have 48 and 45 percent of instant coffee consumers respectively. The fresh bought coffee shows the lowest trend Brisbane and Adelaide both are at 34 percent, while Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney are at approximately 38, 42 and 44 percent.
