The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart shows the results of a survey about the coffee and tea buying and drinking habits of people in five Australian cities.

Overall, going to a café for coffee or tea was the most popular activity in most cities. By contrast, buying fresh coffee was generally the least popular choice. Melbourne and Hobart had the highest proportions of people who visited cafés.

In Melbourne, about 64% of people went to a café for coffee or tea, which was the highest figure among the five cities. This was followed by Sydney and Hobart, at around 61% and 63% respectively. Brisbane and Adelaide had lower figures, at approximately 56% and 49%.

Buying instant coffee was also quite common. Around 53% of people in Hobart bought instant coffee, compared with about 54% in Brisbane and 52% in Adelaide. Sydney had a slightly lower figure, at around 46%, while Melbourne recorded approximately 48%.

Finally, buying fresh coffee was less popular overall. The figures ranged from about 34% in Adelaide to around 44% in Sydney. Melbourne and Hobart had approximately 40% and 38% respectively.
