The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The chart illustrates the outcomes of a survey conducted in five cities of Australia about routine of citizens purchasing and consuming coffee and tea.

Overall, going for tea and coffee outside in a cafe was prominent in all cities except Adelaide. However, buying a fresh brewed coffee was least preferred in all cities. Almost same amount for instant coffee and coffee and tea from cafes were bought.

At first glance, it is clear that people mostly prefer to go for coffee and tea in cafes. Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart holds around similar proportion between 60% and 65%. Whereas, Adelaide witnessed just under 50% of numbers. Instant coffee stood at same proportion of 50% in Adelaide.

Instant coffee was the second most notable drink in all cities, Brisbane and Hobart had almost same proportion of 54%. While Sydney and Melbourne had 45% and 47% of amount respectively. Fresh coffee is the only drink which is least preferred.
