The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the percentages of residents in five Australian cities who bought fresh coffee, purchased instant coffee, or visited a café for coffee or tea during the previous four weeks.

Overall, visiting cafés was the most popular activity in four of the five cities, with Melbourne recording the highest proportion. By contrast, buying fresh coffee was consistently the least common choice. Adelaide was the only city where visiting a café and purchasing instant coffee were equally popular.

Looking first at café visits, Melbourne had the highest figure, at approximately 64%, closely followed by Hobart at 63% and Sydney at 61%. Brisbane recorded a considerably lower proportion of about 56%, while Adelaide had the lowest figure, at exactly 50%.

The figures for instant coffee purchases were generally lower, ranging from about 46% in Sydney to 54% in Hobart. Brisbane also had a relatively high percentage, at 53%, whereas Melbourne stood at around 48% and Adelaide at 50%.
