The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates data regarding the coffee and tea consumption habits of residents across five Australian cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Hobart) over a four-week period.

Overall, visiting a café for coffee or tea was the most popular habit among residents in almost all cities, with the exception of Adelaide. Conversely, purchasing fresh coffee was consistently the least preferred option in every surveyed city.

In terms of café visits, Melbourne led all cities, with nearly 63% of residents going to a café in the last 4 weeks, closely followed by Hobart at approximately 63% and Sydney at around 61%. Brisbane also showed a high preference for café visits at just over 55%. In contrast, Adelaide recorded the lowest participation in this category, at around 49%.

Regarding home-prepared options, buying instant coffee was the second most common choice in most cities. Hobart had the highest percentage of instant coffee buyers at nearly 55%, followed by Brisbane (around 53%) and Adelaide (around 50%). Sydney and Melbourne recorded lower figures for instant coffee, at approximately 45.5% and 48% respectively.
