Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main features of the chart, providing an overview in the second paragraph. However, there are several inaccuracies in the data reporting, such as stating that Hobart ranked first with more than 66% for café visits (actual was 63%) and misinterpreting the fresh and instant coffee data. Furthermore, the response falls slightly short of the 150-word minimum requirement, containing only 148 words. Because of these data inaccuracies and the length penalty, the task achievement is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is structured with an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs, showing an attempt at overall organization. However, paragraphing is somewhat irregular and ideas lack smooth progression due to awkward transitions and mechanical cohesive devices like 'REGARDING THE CHART' and 'MOREOVER'. Referencing is also unclear in places, making it difficult to follow the logical links between the data points presented.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'DEMOSTRATES' instead of 'demonstrates', 'COFFE' instead of 'coffee', 'INDIVIDULAS', 'CHOOSE TO BOUGHT', 'ALELAIDE', 'MARJIN', and 'SHERE'). While the writer attempts to use some task-related terms like 'percentages' and 'proportion', the frequent lexical and spelling errors impede clear communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The text relies heavily on simple sentences and flawed complex structures. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the response, such as 'CHOOSE TO BOUGHT INSTANT COFFE WAS THE LEAST PREVALENT OPTION' and 'THE BOUGHT FRESH AND INSTANT COFFEE WAS ALSO THE SAME'. Punctuation is also problematic, with spaces before commas (e.g., 'OVERALL ,IT CAN BE SEEN'). These frequent errors reduce readability and demonstrate limited control over complex grammar.
