The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart compares the percentages of residents in five Australian cities who bought fresh coffee, bought instant coffee, or visited a cafe for coffee or tea during the previous four weeks.

Overall, visiting a café was the most popular activity in all five cities, while buying fresh coffee was generally the least common. Melbourne and Hobart recorded the highest proportions of café visitors, whereas Adelaide had the lowest figure for this category.

In terms of café visits, around 64% of residents in Melbourne and Hobart went to a café for coffee or tea, followed by Sydney at mainly 61%. The figures were lower in Brisbane and Adelaide, at about 56% and 50% respectively.

Purchases of instant coffee were also relatively common. Hobart had the highest percentage, at roughly 54%, while Brisbane followed closely at 53%. Adelaide recorded 50%, whereas Melbourne and Sydney had lower proportions of about 48% and 46% respectively.
