The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar graph depicts the results of a survey conducted in five different cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart) in Australia regarding the habits of people preferring fresh coffee, instant coffee or a visit to a cafe for coffee or tea in the previous four weeks. The data are measured in percentages.

Overall, most of the people in four out of five cities preferred a visit to a cafe for a drink rather than purchasing coffee from stores. Instant coffee was a more popular choice than buying fresh coffee in every city.

As shown in the chart, Melbourne had the highest proportion of people attending a cafe for coffee or tea, at almost 65%, followed by Hobart, which had nearly 63% in the last four weeks. The figure showed that just over 60% of city residents went to a cafe for a drink in Sydney, whereas the two cities with the lowest figures were Brisbane and Adelaide, at 56% and 49%, respectively.

Moving to the people buying coffee, Sydney had almost 45% of the people who bought fresh coffee and just over 45% of people who bought instant coffee. A similar trend was shown by Melbourne, where 42% of people bought fresh coffee and 48% of people bought instant coffee. Brisbane had almost 35% of people buying fresh coffee, which was the lowest, but instant coffee was the first, with a figure of 53%.
