Student answer (Band 4.5)

The graph presenting us the ratio of consuming coffee and tea by the residents of five Australian diffferent cities.

Like all cities have their different lifestyles like within last 4 weeks Mellbourne has the highest ratio about 63% of went on cafe for tea and coffee meanwhile Hobart was having 62% both cities have miner difference same as approximately 61% Sydney while on fourth city Brisbane have 55% meanwhile at the lowest was Adelaide who have only 49%.

meanwhile the other factor of bought instant coffee in last four week in five differences cities are insane as we saw sale in Hobart was 54% its slightly low while as same Brisbane have 53% the Adelaide have 50% sales of bought instant coffee while second lowest sales reported in Mellbourne was only 48% and the lowest reported was only 41%.

while the sales of fresh coffee was listed as lowest then other while buying instant coffee or went into cafe for coffee.

The lowest sale was reported in Brisbane 33% and slighlty difference in Adelaide was 34% and some ration was also listed 38% in Hobart. However in 42% was listed in Melbourne and 44% was in Sydney.

Its seem like with the passage of time people getting modernized they likes to spend some quality time with their relations while enjoying their coffee so they went on cafes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover all three categories of the bar chart (fresh coffee, instant coffee, and café visits across five Australian cities). However, the task achievement is hindered by several inaccurate data figures and an absence of a clear, coherent overview. For instance, the student states that Brisbane's fresh coffee sales were '33%' and Adelaide's '34%', whereas the provided data shows Brisbane and Adelaide both at 34.5%. Furthermore, the description lacks proper selection and comparison of the main features, instead relying on a somewhat rambling list of data points. While some trends are mentioned, the overall structure falls short of a well-developed summary required for higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The organization of the response is weak. The writing is structured into a single long block of text with very little appropriate paragraphing or logical progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the excessive and incorrect use of 'meanwhile' to link unrelated data points (e.g., 'meanwhile the other factor...'). Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of comparisons between the five cities. There is no clear introduction, body, and concluding overview structure, which severely limits the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The lexical resource is limited and displays frequent errors in word choice and collocations. Examples include 'ratio of consuming coffee' instead of proportion or percentage, 'went on cafe' instead of went to a café, and 'sale of bought instant coffee' instead of purchases or consumption. Words are often misspelled or misused, such as 'Mellbourne', 'diffferent', and 'miner' instead of minor. The vocabulary is generally repetitive and basic, lacking the precision and flexibility needed to adequately discuss statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, and accuracy is poor throughout the text. The response lacks a complete introductory sentence, opening with a fragment ('The graph presenting us...'). There are persistent run-on sentences joined poorly by conjunctions or transition words without proper punctuation. Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are frequently violated, as seen in 'people getting modernized they likes' and 'Hobart was having'. These frequent errors frequently impede communication and place the text firmly in the lower band categories.
