The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The chart below shows the results of a survey on people’s coffee and tea, buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart. The information is presented in a mulitple bar graph, where for each Australian city, coffee buying and drinking habits is shown with 3 bars which represents purchase of fresh coffee , purchase of instant coffee and consumption of coffee/tea in a cafe . All the information given in the graph is the statistics from the last 4 weeks of the calendar.

In the Capital city of Sydney , around 44% of the residents purchased fresh coffee, 45% of the residents purchased instant coffee and around 60% of the residents went to a cafe to consume coffee/tea . While in the city of Melbourne, around 42% of the residents purchased fresh coffee, around 48% purchased instant coffee and around 63% people consumed tea/coffee in a cafe.

The number of residents, who purchased fresh coffee dropped to 34% in Brisbane and the number od people going to a cafe for having coffee/tea also dropped to 55% . While 53% of residents of Brisbane purchased instant coffee. The city of Adelaide saw the lowest number of it's residents, who went to a cafe for the consumption of tea/coffee . While 50% of residents bought instant coffee and 34% residents bought fresh coffee. On the contrary, 64% of the residents of Hobart went to a cafe for tea/coffee. While 55% of the residents bought instant coffee and 37% bought Fresh coffee.

In conclusion to the data , It can be stated that, most of the residents went to a cafe for a coffe/tea while least number of residents in Australian cities purchased fresh coffee .
