The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the results of a survey on people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities over the previous four weeks.

Overall, visiting a café for coffee or tea was the most popular activity in most cities, whereas buying fresh coffee was generally the least common. Adelaide was the only city where purchasing instant coffee exceeded going to a café.

In terms of café visits, Melbourne recorded the highest proportion at about 64%, followed closely by Hobart at 63%. Around 61% of residents in Sydney visited a café, while the figures for Brisbane and Adelaide were lower, at approximately 55% and 50%, respectively.

Regarding coffee purchases, buying instant coffee was more popular than purchasing fresh coffee in every city. Approximately 54% of people in Hobart and 53% in Brisbane bought instant coffee, compared with around 48% in Adelaide, 46% in Melbourne, and 45% in Sydney.

By contrast, the percentages of people who bought fresh coffee were relatively low across all five cities.
