IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The bar chart illustrate the census of the comsuption of coffee and tea in the last 4 weeks at different cities of the Australia.
The bar chart have three different kinds of filling which shows buying fresh coffee, instant coffee and those who went to cafe for tea or coffee. The percentage of going to cafe was high through out the cities instead of only one city compared to buying fresh or instant coffee. While the percentage of fresh coffee were low as compared to the instant one in all cities.
First of all is Sydney where majority of people went to cafe for coffee or tea as the percentage of it is slightly above 60% where as the percentage of fresh coffee is below 45% and instant one is slightly above 45%. Moreover, in Melbourne, the percentage of visiting cafe is near to 65% which is higher among all cities.Additionaly, the percentage of buying fresh coffee is in between 40% and 45% where as instant one is in between 45% and 50%.
On other hand, we have Brisbane where the percentage of going to cafe is a little above 55% while having instant coffee percentage is above 50%. The percentage of the consuption of fresh coffee is slighly below 35% which is the lowest percentage among all cities. Then comes Adelaide, this is the only city where the percentage of having coffe or tea at cafe is low which is slightly lower from 50% and the percentage of having instant coffe is high that reached 50%. Futhermore, the percentage of buying fresh coffee is very close to 35%.
Finally, Hobart is the city where the percentage of going to cafe anf having tea or coffee is in bewteen 60% to 65% while instant coffee is near to 55%.However, the percentage of fresh coffee is slight below 40%.
