The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the results of a survey on coffee and tea purchasing and drinking habits among residents of five Australian cities.

Overall, visiting a café for coffee or tea was the most popular activity in Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart, while buying instant coffee was more common in Brisbane and Adelaide. Buying fresh coffee was the least popular option in all five cities.

In Sydney, approximately 61% of residents had visited a café in the previous four weeks, compared with 46% who had bought instant coffee and 44% who had purchased fresh coffee. Melbourne showed a similar pattern, with around 64% visiting cafés, 48% buying instant coffee and 43% buying fresh coffee.

In Brisbane, about 56% went to a café, while 53% bought instant coffee. Only around 34% had purchased fresh coffee. Adelaide had the lowest figure for café visits, at approximately 50%, which was equal to the proportion buying instant coffee. About 35% of residents bought fresh coffee. Finally, Hobart recorded the highest proportion of fresh-coffee buyers at around 39%, while 54% bought instant coffee and 63% visited a café.
