Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing coffee and tea habits across the cities, but it falls well short of a coherent or accurate summary. The overview is confusing ('several seven cities'), and the specific data reported is largely inaccurate or vague. For instance, the writer states that Sydney had a ratio of '63' for café visits (which actually applies to Hobart or Melbourne, whereas Sydney is 61%) and misinterprets data relationships. Important trends, such as Hobart and Brisbane having the highest instant coffee consumption or café visits generally being the most popular activity across most cities, are missed or poorly articulated. Furthermore, the phrasing 'last for few weeks' reflects misreading of the data category ('in last 4 weeks'). This places the task achievement performance at a weak level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response is divided into four paragraphs, but the logical progression and overall arrangement are severely compromised by poor cohesion and mechanical transitions. Discourse markers like 'Initially', 'Alternatively', and 'Moreover' are used inappropriately and do not reflect the logical relationship between sentences. Referencing is frequently unclear, such as 'a city which name is Sydney which demonstrate...' and 'In these two cities every information differs with other'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion breaks down due to repetitive structures and confusing pronoun and noun references, making the text difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

Lexical resource is extremely limited and repetitive. The student relies heavily on basic vocabulary and incorrect collocations, such as 'gigantic population', 'rate of population', and 'to much low gap'. Words are frequently misused, as seen in 'ratio' instead of 'percentage' or 'proportion', and 'every information differs'. There are also frequent awkward formulations like 'coffee and tea buying and drinking habits' copied directly from the prompt without variation. Spelling is generally accurate, but the lack of flexibility and precision restricts the communication of data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are almost entirely faulty. The text is riddled with severe grammatical errors, missing verbs, and non-standard syntax, such as 'Overall, by summarizing the diagram it illustrates...', 'a city which name is Sydney which demonstrate...', and 'the percentage of instant coffee or fresh coffee slightly equivalent with one another'. Punctuation and article usage are also weak throughout. These frequent errors cause significant strain for the reader and impede comprehension.
