Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response makes a basic attempt to summarise the bar chart, identifying general trends such as café visits being the highest category. However, the length requirement is not met, as the response is well under the minimum word count of 150 words. Furthermore, the selection of data is restricted and contains inaccuracies, such as misinterpreting the percentage values and failing to provide a fully developed overview. To move up, the writer must ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement, presents a clearer and more accurate summary of the main features, and supports statements with precise data from the visual.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The text attempts a basic logical structure by including an introductory overview followed by body details, but the overall organisation is heavily disrupted by poor formatting and fragmented paragraphs. Cohesive devices are minimal or inaccurate, such as 'in other hand' and repetitive phrasing, which fails to create clear progression. Referencing and linking between ideas are weak, making the flow difficult to follow. To improve, the writer needs to structure the response into clear paragraphs, use standard cohesive devices appropriately, and ensure that ideas are sequenced logically to guide the reader smoothly through the comparison of data.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, struggling to accurately report the statistical information. There are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'cofee', 'experinced', 'frch', 'deffernt', 'Webt', 'opposit', 'flectuavly', 'buyinf', and 'pecantages', which occasionally strain the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range to discuss data and trends effectively, improve spelling accuracy for common terms related to graphs and habits, and use appropriate collocations instead of relying on heavily misspelled words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, articles, prepositions, and punctuation, including run-on sentences and missing subjects, such as 'Overall, went to a cafe...'. These errors often make the sentences difficult to parse. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to construct simpler, more accurate sentences first, ensure correct subject-verb agreement and punctuation, and carefully proofread the writing to reduce basic structural errors.
