Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main pattern: café visits are generally the most popular activity, while fresh coffee purchases are usually lowest, and you compare all five cities. Several figures are close to the chart, including Melbourne’s café figure (about 63.5%) and Sydney’s fresh coffee figure (44%). However, some data are inaccurate: Sydney’s café rate is about 61%, not “almost” the same as Hobart’s 63% in the way your comparison suggests, and fresh coffee in Adelaide is about 34.5%, not 32%. The overview also overstates the pattern: instant coffee is not the second priority in every city, since café visits exceed it in all five. Your key features are relevant, but more precise comparisons and a clearer overview would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of city comparisons. This gives the information an overall coherent arrangement, and linking expressions such as “whereas,” “followed by,” and “Moreover” help connect points. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because several comparisons are packed into long sentences, particularly the discussion of café visits in Sydney, Hobart, and Brisbane. Some references are also unclear, as in “the trend of buying instant coffee is the second priority,” where the comparison group is not consistently specified. Organise the details more systematically—for example, compare café attendance across cities first, then purchases—and use shorter sentences with clear subjects.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “recorded,” and “compared,” so the reader can understand the general subject and comparisons. However, the range and control are limited by repeated wording such as “percentage” and “hanging out,” and several expressions are not natural for a formal chart report: “second priority,” “barest of margins,” and “the rate of buying fresh coffee remains at the lowest.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “consumtion,” “Austrlains,” “higest,” and “perecnage.” Prefer precise reporting language such as “the share of residents,” “visited a café,” and “was the lowest,” and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using contrast and comparison clauses such as “whereas” and “followed by.” Nevertheless, errors in sentence structure and verb forms are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. For example, “the people of every city other then Adelaide prefers to went” has problems with agreement and verb construction, while “The brisbane was have 55%” is not grammatically formed. Articles and prepositions are also inconsistent, as in “in last four weeks” and “in hanging out to cafes.” Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb patterns (“Residents in Brisbane recorded…”) and check tense, agreement, articles, and punctuation when combining clauses.
