In Brisbane, 55% people went to cafe for their bevrages, while Melbourne spent more than 8% in same category. Approximately, 46 and 48 proprtion masses brought instant coffee in Sydney and Melbourne.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response identifies the five cities and makes some relevant comparisons, including the small gap between café visits in Sydney and Melbourne and the higher café figure in Hobart than Adelaide. However, the overview is not fully accurate: Melbourne, not the cities collectively described as spending the most, has the highest café figure, while Hobart is very close. More importantly, the statement that Adelaide and Hobart figures for fresh coffee were 50% and 54% confuses the instant-coffee data with fresh coffee; the fresh-coffee figures are about 34.5% and 38.5%. The response also omits several key patterns, such as café visits being the most popular activity in four cities and instant coffee leading in Brisbane and Adelaide. Select the main comparisons accurately and support them with correctly matched figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, two paragraphs of comparisons, and a concluding overview. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Further,” and “Overall” help signal movement between points. However, progression is uneven because the comparisons are not grouped consistently by activity or by city, and some references are difficult to follow. For example, “Melbourne spent more than 8% in same category” does not clearly identify who spent what, while “the Adelaide and Hobert on fresh coffee was 50% and 54%” leaves the relationship between the cities and figures unclear. The conclusion also repeats a broad claim rather than synthesising the main patterns. Organise the body around the three activities and use clear city-and-category references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response attempts a range of task-related vocabulary, including “negligible difference,” “percentile,” “proportion,” and “maximum ratio.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing survey percentages: “ration of city residents,” “spent” for the proportion who visited cafés, and “maximum ratio of buy” make the meaning harder to interpret. Spelling errors such as “diffrent,” “bevrages,” “proprtion,” “Hobert,” and “cofee” are also noticeable. Some wording is repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “bar graph” and “coffee.” Use precise terms such as “percentage,” “share,” and “proportion of residents,” and choose verbs that match the data, such as “bought” or “visited.” Careful proofreading would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There are attempts to use both simple and more complex sentences, including “After analyzing the bar graph, it can be seen clearly that…” and the final sentence beginning “Overall.” The main ideas can generally be understood, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical patterns recur. For example, “ration of city residents buy” lacks a suitable noun phrase and verb form, while “individuals went to a cafe … in Melbourne and Sydney had a difference” does not form a clear comparison. In “which was 13% of more as compare to Adelade,” the comparative structure is faulty, and several sentences omit articles or use awkward prepositions. Practise building direct comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, and comparative forms.
