Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main patterns: café visits are highest in most cities, instant coffee leads in Adelaide, and fresh coffee is generally the least popular category. Several comparisons are supported with relevant figures, such as café attendance in Melbourne and Hobart and fresh-coffee purchases in Sydney and Melbourne. Most reported values are close to the chart. However, the overview says café visits are highest in every city except Adelaide, which is imprecise: in Adelaide, café visits (about 49.5%) are marginally below instant coffee (50%), while in Brisbane instant coffee also exceeds fresh coffee but café visits remain highest. The instant-coffee comparison is also incomplete, omitting Adelaide and giving no clear account of the overall range. A more precise overview and fuller comparison of the three categories would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and detail about café visits, instant coffee, and fresh coffee. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow, and contrast markers such as “Overall,” “Conversely,” and “While” help signal relationships. However, the progression within the detail paragraph is somewhat mechanical, with “Follows” and “Subsequenlty” used awkwardly, and the final comparisons are compressed together. The transition from café figures to instant coffee and then fresh coffee could be made more deliberate, for example by grouping each category in a separate sentence and using consistent comparison language. Check punctuation and spacing between sentences, particularly around “48%.The fresh coffee,” to make the presentation smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “illustrates,” “dominant,” “recessive,” “fluctuating,” and “percentage,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also some attempts at more formal phrasing. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing survey data: “the sector of fresh coffee is recessive,” “cafe customer,” and “most number of customers” do not express the intended comparisons naturally. “Purchasing and drinking routines” is also less precise than describing buying habits and café visits. Spelling slips such as “coffe,” “sydney,” and “Subsequenlty” reduce accuracy. Aim for standard collocations such as “fresh coffee purchases were lowest” and “the proportion of residents who visited a café,” and proofread city names and common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a complex overview beginning “Overall, it is evident that…” and a contrast sentence beginning “While.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “The Melbourne and Hobart has” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “Follows the sydney” is not a complete, correctly formed sentence. The phrase “people of very city” also has an incorrect determiner, while “Brisbane and Adelaide has” again mismatches the plural subject and verb. Punctuation and spacing need attention, as in “48%.The fresh coffee.” Build accuracy by checking each subject and verb, using complete sentences for comparisons, and reviewing articles and plural forms.
