Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all three survey categories and compare the five cities, with a clear overview that café visits lead in Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart, while instant coffee leads in Brisbane and Adelaide. Your figures are generally close to the chart, and you correctly identify fresh coffee as the least popular option overall. However, some comparisons are less fully developed: for example, the overview could state that café visits are the highest category in four cities, not three, since they also exceed instant coffee in Adelaide only narrowly? In fact, Adelaide’s café figure is slightly below instant coffee, so your overview is accurate. To strengthen the response, make the overall patterns more precise and avoid calling fresh coffee the lowest “among all options” without clarifying that this is true in every city.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs grouping the coffee purchases and café visits. This makes the information easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In contrast,” and “Furthermore” to signal comparisons. However, these connectors are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, and “On the one hand” / “On the other hand” does not express a meaningful contrast between the two paragraphs. Some references are also awkward, such as “it” repeatedly standing for different habits. Improve progression by grouping comparisons more deliberately and using clear nouns—such as “the café figure” or “fresh-coffee purchases”—instead of relying on repeated pronouns.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to describe the chart, including “accounted for,” “popular,” “trend,” and “represented.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “the famous trend” should be “the most popular choice,” and “accounted of 54%” is not a natural collocation. “The trend of fresh coffee” is also less precise than “fresh-coffee purchases.” There are spelling errors in “demostrates” and “populat,” and repeated use of “represented” makes the description less flexible. Aim for accurate chart language such as “stood at,” “recorded,” and “was the leading choice,” while checking spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, and the main comparisons are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, verb patterns, and sentence construction. For example, “result of survey” needs an article (“results of a survey”), while “it was accounted of 54%” has an incorrect grammatical pattern; use “it accounted for 54%” or “the figure was 54%.” The sentence beginning “Moreover, bought instant coffee was more popular” also needs a subject structure such as “Moreover, buying instant coffee was more popular.” There are some awkward comma placements and repeated passive constructions. Practise accurate comparative clauses and vary sentence patterns while maintaining control of articles and verb forms.
