Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all three activities across the five cities and provide a clear overview: café visits are generally the highest figure, while fresh coffee purchases are usually the lowest. Most reported comparisons are grounded in the chart, including Sydney’s café figure of about 60% and Brisbane’s similar levels for instant coffee and café visits. However, the overview is not fully accurate: fresh coffee is not the lowest in every city, since in Adelaide café visits (about 49.5%) are slightly below fresh coffee (about 34.5%)? More importantly, fresh coffee is indeed lowest in all five cities, but café visits are not highest in Adelaide, where instant coffee is marginally higher. Some figures are also imprecise, particularly Hobart fresh coffee, given as 36% rather than about 38.5%. A more precise overview and careful checking of comparisons would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a city-by-city account. Grouping the figures by city makes the comparisons easy to locate, and phrases such as “followed by” and “while” help connect details. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical because each body section repeats a similar sequence of café, instant, and fresh coffee figures. Some links between clauses are unclear, as in “Similaraly, melbourne accquired for coffe or tea…” and the Adelaide sentence, where the comparison is compressed into one long statement without clear punctuation. Use consistent paragraphing and clearer transitions, and group cities with similar patterns where useful. This would make the organisation more fluent and cohesion less dependent on repeated listing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “ratio,” “purchased,” and “residents,” and the reader can generally identify the three activities being compared. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “people went cafe,” “the lowest buyer,” and “acquired for coffee or tea.” Repeated use of “coffee” and “around” also makes the description less flexible. Spelling errors—including “Austrialia,” “Brisbanne,” “pruchased,” and “approximetily”—are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim for accurate collocations such as “the proportion who visited a café” and “residents who bought instant coffee.” More reliable spelling and a wider set of natural reporting phrases would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Some grammatical patterns are controlled, for example, “The bar chart illustrates…” and “Fresh coffee was the lowest…” However, there are several errors in sentence construction and agreement. “The proportion of survey about individuals coffee…” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “went to a cafe for coffee and tea are around 60%” has a subject–verb mismatch. Articles and possessives are also missing in phrases such as “went cafe” and “individuals coffee.” Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly where figures and comparisons run together. Practise complete subject–verb structures and check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries; this will make your comparisons easier to follow.
