Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the three survey measures and report several relevant comparisons, including café visits being highest in Melbourne and Hobart, and fresh-coffee purchases peaking in Sydney. The figures are generally close to the chart, though the café figures are presented in a confusing order: Sydney is about 61%, not the value implied by the sequence after Melbourne and Hobart. The overview also says residents “preferd” cafés, which overstates what the chart shows: it records reported behaviour, not preference. Some features are less fully explained, and the opening description inaccurately calls the chart “tea buying and coffee and drinking habits.” A clearer overview of the main pattern across all three categories, with precise comparisons, would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for instant and fresh coffee. This gives the reader a workable route through the information, and phrases such as “On the contrary” and “Moving to” signal transitions. However, the overview combines café rankings with figures in a way that makes the order difficult to follow, and the repeated ranking lists can feel mechanical. Some links are also awkward, such as “While Melbourne recorded…” after a sentence that does not complete the contrast. Use clearer topic sentences and group comparisons by the most important patterns, rather than listing every city in sequence; this would make progression more logical and cohesion less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “accounting to,” “followed by,” and “recorded,” so the meaning is usually understandable. There is also some attempt to vary wording when describing rankings. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “preferd going to cafe” claims preference rather than reporting visits, “accounting to” should be “accounting for,” and “runner up for this” is informal and imprecise. Spelling errors such as “proption,” “acconting,” and “Sdyney,” along with inconsistent capitalisation of city names, reduce control. Aim for accurate, conventional reporting phrases and check spelling carefully; this would make the vocabulary more precise and appropriate to an academic summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including longer comparisons and a subordinate clause beginning “While,” and most of the intended meaning can be followed. Some grammatical errors remain, however. The opening has a repeated “of,” and the overview lacks spaces after full stops and commas, making sentence boundaries unclear. There are also problems with articles and number, as in “the cities residents” and “going to cafe,” and the final “While Melbourne recorded…” is a fragment because it is not joined to a complete main clause. Repeated “and and” and the construction “the percentage … was the highest … and lowest” also need editing. Build accurate complete sentences first, then add complex clauses with clear punctuation.
