Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify several important patterns, including café visits being highest in Melbourne and Hobart, and fresh-coffee purchases being lowest in Brisbane and Adelaide. Your overview also attempts to compare the cities, and most figures you report are broadly consistent with the chart. However, some key details are incomplete or unclear: the café figures for Brisbane and Adelaide are not discussed, and the instant-coffee comparison omits Adelaide’s 50% and gives Hobart as “around 54%” without clearly contrasting it with the other cities. The overview’s claim that Adelaide residents “doesn't buy much coffee instantly” is misleading, since Adelaide is around the middle of the range. Develop the main comparisons more evenly and state the overall patterns precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of supporting details. This helps the reader distinguish the broad trends from the figures. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is not always clear. The sentence beginning “In contrast” moves to instant coffee, while “Whereas” then introduces Hobart without a complete comparison, making the relationship between points difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “In Addition” and “Furthermore” are also used mechanically, and the final paragraph ends abruptly without covering all the remaining comparisons. Group the data by category or by clear high/low contrasts, and use linking words only when their logical relationship is explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “residents,” “percentage,” “fresh coffee,” and “instant coffee,” so the topic is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, such as “illustrates” and “in contrast.” However, noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “fresh coffee buying habits are maximum” is unnatural, “the number of residents increased gradually” incorrectly describes percentages across cities, and “Hobart generates the largest percentage” is not an appropriate description of survey results. Errors such as “parcentage,” “percntages,” and “Melnourne” are also distracting. Choose standard chart-reporting phrases and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences with contrast clauses, for example, “In contrast…” and “Whereas…”. This shows some range, but control is uneven, and several sentence patterns contain errors. Examples include “Overall we can seen,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “citizens of Adelaide doesn't buy,” where the subject and verb do not agree. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “went to the cafe often” and “people of sydney consumed fresh coffee at a highest percentage.” Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly around commas and city names. Use a reliable present-tense pattern such as “The proportion of residents who…” and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
