Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three survey categories and provide an overview identifying café visits as the most common activity and fresh-coffee purchases as generally the least common. The city-by-city details are relevant, and most figures are close to the chart. However, some comparisons need greater precision: Hobart’s instant-coffee figure is about 54.5%, not 59%, and Melbourne’s café figure is about 63.5%, rather than 64% (a small rounding difference). The overview also overgeneralises: fresh coffee is not the lowest category in every city, since Adelaide’s café figure is below its fresh-coffee figure. This broad coverage and clear main pattern are effective, but a more accurate overview and sharper comparisons would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for café visits and the two types of coffee purchases. This makes the information easy to locate, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a contrast. However, progression within sentences is sometimes awkward or mechanical. For example, “Melbourne accounted the 48%. while…” breaks the flow, and repeated openings such as “It is apparently seen” and “It is obvious” add little meaning. The overview’s comparison is also difficult to follow because of the long, loosely connected phrase about the “least ratio.” Use more direct topic sentences and connect comparisons within complete, clearly punctuated sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing survey data, including “percentage,” “accounted for,” “comprised,” and “proportion,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited by repeated and sometimes unnatural expressions, especially “ratio” for percentages and “highest amount of ratio.” Phrases such as “highest position” and “least ratio” are not natural ways to describe chart values, while “individuals” and “citizens” are used repetitively where “residents” would be more precise. Some word combinations also obscure meaning, as in “the proportion of bought instant coffee.” Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and vary it selectively; this would make the description more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the reader can usually understand the comparisons. However, errors in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and punctuation are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. The opening, “the result of survey about individual … habits who conducted,” has an incomplete and incorrectly formed relative clause. In the overview, “the highest ratio of individual who went to cafe and take” has problems with articles, number agreement, and verb form. Sentence boundaries are also inconsistent: “Melbourne accounted the 48%. while…” should be joined or punctuated correctly, and several sentences begin with lowercase “as” or “on.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate verb forms and consistent punctuation.
