Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s three measures and give a broad overview that café visits are generally highest and instant coffee purchases exceed fresh coffee purchases. Several comparisons are relevant, including the similar fresh-coffee figures for Brisbane and Adelaide. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear: café visits in Adelaide were about 50%, not 43%, and the figures for instant coffee in Melbourne and Adelaide were about 49% and 50%, not 44%. The claim that café visits are highest in every city is also incorrect, since instant coffee slightly exceeds café visits in Adelaide. The final references to “buying tea” misrepresent the chart, which records café visits for coffee or tea. More accurate selection and reporting of the main comparisons would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview and paragraphs that discuss the chart’s categories. Some linking expressions, such as “By contrast” and “Similarly,” show an attempt to connect comparisons. However, progression is not consistently clear: the café discussion is interrupted by a list of figures, and “Consdirably” and “Following” do not make the relationships between ideas clear. The final paragraph repeats the claim that instant coffee exceeds fresh coffee rather than adding a distinct comparison. Grouping the information into a clear overview followed by two focused comparison paragraphs, and using fewer but more precise connectors, would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “survey,” “percentage,” “instant coffee,” and “fresh coffee,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, such as “good rate,” “better performance,” “low than,” and “outstanding productivity.” There are also spelling errors, including “Consdirably,” “Melnourne,” “consumpution,” and “Autralian,” which reduce clarity. “Buying tea” is not an accurate label for the chart’s café-visiting category. Aim for straightforward, precise expressions such as “the proportion who visited a café” and “was lower than,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and comparison clauses, for example, “Melbourne and Hobart almost identical, whereas Adelaide becomes low than Brisbane.” However, many sentences contain grammatical errors that make the relationships difficult to understand. The opening phrase “individuals coffee and tea purchasing and drinking habit” has problems with possessive form, number and sentence structure. Other examples include “the cafe for tea are highly percentage,” “the Hobart are rising,” and “In the Melbourne purchasing coffee 42% average rate,” where agreement and sentence construction are faulty. Some fragments, such as the sequence of city figures after “By contrast,” also lack a complete grammatical frame. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and use comparative structures such as “the figure for X was higher than that for Y.”
