Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify relevant categories and include several figures, such as café visits in Sydney (61%) and fresh-coffee purchases in Sydney (44%). However, the response only partially summarises the chart: it gives no clear overview of the main pattern across all five cities, and comparisons are selective and sometimes inaccurate. For example, café attendance was highest in Melbourne (about 64%) and Hobart (about 63%), not equally 63% in both; instant coffee was highest in Hobart, rather than the Melbourne–Adelaide comparison highlighted. The claim that fresh coffee was least common in Brisbane and Adelaide is supported, but the response does not set this against the generally higher café figures or instant-coffee results. A concise overview and more systematic, accurate comparisons would make the key features clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction and then gives figures in separate paragraphs, with basic links such as “whereas” and “There is also.” However, there is no clear overall progression from an overview to grouped comparisons, so the reader has to infer how the details relate. The second paragraph combines fresh and instant coffee, while the final paragraph returns to café visits and then fresh versus instant coffee, creating repetition rather than a developing summary. Some references are also unclear, particularly “There is also well known people,” which makes the intended connection difficult to follow. Group the information by category or by notable city patterns, and use clear linking phrases to show contrasts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “bar chart,” “ratio,” “bought,” and “went to a coffee shop,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “feedback of the people's,” “well known people,” and “making a fresh coffee … in home.” Spelling errors, including “comman” and “fesh,” also reduce accuracy. Repetition of “people,” “coffee,” and “buy” limits flexibility. Aim for precise chart language such as “proportion of residents,” “purchased,” and “visited a café,” and check spelling and natural word combinations. This would make the description clearer and more appropriate to an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentences and comparisons, but the range is limited and complex constructions are often faulty. For example, “Around 43% of the citizens of the Sydney and Melbourne, they bought…” has an unnecessary repeated subject and an incorrect article, while “whereas the people in Melbourne and Adelaide, nearly 50% buy…” lacks a complete, well-formed clause. Tense use also shifts between past (“bought”) and present (“buy”) when describing the survey. There are problems with agreement and sentence construction in “There is also well known people,” and punctuation is inconsistent, including missing spaces around figures. Use straightforward complete sentences, keep the past tense consistent, and check articles, agreement, and clause structure.
