Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three activities and make relevant comparisons across the cities, including the high café figures in Melbourne and Hobart and the low fresh-coffee figures in Brisbane and Adelaide. However, the overview is not fully accurate: Melbourne is not the highest for café visits; its figure is about 64%, slightly above Hobart’s 63%, so that comparison is sound, but the chart’s lowest fresh-coffee figures are shared by Brisbane and Adelaide at about 34.5%. Several details are misreported or unclear: Melbourne’s instant-coffee figure is about 48.5%, not 43%, and the final paragraph gives café figures for Brisbane and Adelaide that do not match the chart. To improve, select the main patterns accurately and report each city’s figures consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, so there is some organisation. It also attempts to group cities and use comparisons, for example, “Near to sudney there is Melbourne.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because the final paragraph lists Hobart, Adelaide and Brisbane together without clearly separating their figures or comparing the three activities. Linking words such as “while” and “and” are sometimes used in ways that leave relationships unclear, and the overview repeats the café-visit point rather than establishing a concise set of main trends. Organise the details by activity or by city, use clear topic sentences, and ensure each comparison has an explicit reference.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “bought instant coffee,” and “went to a cafe,” which helps communicate the chart’s subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “people who’s habit to buying,” “show their intrest to bought,” and “atttracted to bought.” Repetition of “people,” “percentage,” and “coffee” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors such as “illlustrates,” “coffe,” “sudney,” and “Autralia” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Build a more accurate set of chart-description collocations, such as “the proportion of residents who purchased” and “the figure for café visits,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a comparison beginning “while the other two are less then sudney,” but control is inconsistent and many sentences contain errors that make the relationships hard to interpret. Examples include “percentage of people who's habit to buying,” “the Adelaide and Brisbane show,” and “people who bought instant coffee are 45%,” where sentence structure, agreement, or clause formation is faulty. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at the start of “overall” and after “while.” Practise accurate sentence patterns for reporting figures, such as “In Sydney, 61% went to a café, compared with 45.5% who bought instant coffee,” then combine these with controlled contrast clauses.
