Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main pattern accurately: café visits are the most popular activity overall, while fresh coffee purchases are generally lower. You also make relevant city comparisons, including Melbourne’s café figure, Hobart’s high instant-coffee figure, and the similar fresh-coffee results for Brisbane and Adelaide. Most reported values are consistent with the chart. This meets the task well, with some features more fully covered than others: the overview could be more precise by noting that Hobart and Melbourne have the highest café attendance, while Adelaide is lowest, and that Hobart—not every city—has the highest instant-coffee figure. A fuller comparison across all five cities would make the key features more completely developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs comparing the cities. The progression from general patterns to specific figures is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “However” help signal relationships. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. For example, “Contraty to this” introduces the fresh-coffee comparison, but the contrast is not fully explained, and the final paragraph’s “respectively” requires the reader to infer which figures correspond to which cities. Punctuation spacing also makes transitions less smooth. Grouping comparisons more consistently and using clearer references would strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “bought instant coffee,” “went to a cafe,” and “relatively low,” so the meaning is generally clear. There is some repetition of “percentage of people” and “showed,” which limits flexibility, and several word-choice or spelling slips reduce accuracy: “regarading,” “Contraty,” “Sydeny,” and “graphe.” The phrase “the people of Melbourne” is also less natural than “Melbourne residents.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but they keep the vocabulary from being consistently precise and well controlled. Aim to vary reporting verbs and use standard chart language, while checking spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the contrast in “While more than 55% people went to a cafe in Brisbane and less than 50% people in Adelaide.” The main comparisons remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “65% people” needs an article or “of,” and “the people who bought instant coffee” is an awkward construction where a direct noun phrase would be clearer. The final “While” clause is a fragment, and “Overall, all cities” and several other sentences lack spaces after punctuation. There is also inconsistent sentence control when figures are compressed into lists. Use complete clauses, check articles and prepositions, and proofread punctuation to improve accuracy.
