Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the three measures and cover all five cities, with relevant figures such as Sydney’s café attendance at 61% and Hobart’s instant-coffee figure at about 54%. The overview also attempts to identify the main pattern: café visits are generally high and fresh-coffee purchases are comparatively low. However, it is not fully accurate: fresh coffee is not the lowest measure in every city, since instant coffee is lower in Sydney, and café attendance is not highest in every city. Some comparisons are unclear or misreported, including the claim that Hobart’s café figure is 65% and the description of Adelaide’s tea figure declining. To strengthen the response, give a precise overview and compare the actual three categories consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an identifiable introduction, overview and city-based body paragraphs, and it moves from Sydney and Melbourne to Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: phrases such as “the most dramatically rose by” and “On account of in the Alelaide” do not clearly signal how the figures relate. Linking expressions including “Moreover,” “In addition,” and “Finally” are used, but some feel mechanical or do not express the intended relationship. Grouping the cities around clear comparisons, then using consistent category labels, would make the organisation more coherent and cohesion less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “fresh coffee,” “instant coffee,” “percentage,” and “city residents,” so the topic remains recognisable. There are also attempts to vary expression, such as “accounted for” and “approximately.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making comparisons hard to interpret: “the biggest share over the period,” “the most dramatically rose,” and “the both countries” are not natural descriptions of this chart. “Countries” is also the wrong term for the cities, and spelling errors such as “Alelaide” and “campered” reduce control. Build a reliable set of chart-reporting phrases and use them precisely rather than forcing synonyms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can usually identify the intended city and category. However, control is inconsistent, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “cafe for coffee and tea has the biggest share” lacks a clear grammatical subject, while “the bought fresh coffee have lowest ratio” has incorrect article use and subject–verb agreement. Several clauses are fragments or are joined in ways that obscure meaning, as in “in the Sydney fresh coffee in last 4 weeks the ratio 44%.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check singular/plural agreement and articles. More accurate basic structures would make your comparisons easier to understand.
