Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important changes, including the removal of the central tables and chairs, the addition of a café and computer room, and changes to the book areas. However, the response only partially covers the plans: it gives no clear overview of the main transformation and some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the café did not replace the enquiry desk room; the enquiry desk area became an open adult-fiction area, while the café occupies the former reading-room area. The lecture room replaced the children’s-books room, but the children’s fiction and storytelling room is in the former CDs-and-games room. A clearer summary of these major changes, with accurate locations, would make the report more complete and developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response includes a sequence of comparisons and uses linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “however,” so the reader can identify some of the changes being discussed. However, the information is presented as one long paragraph, without a distinct overview or a clear progression from general changes to specific areas. Several ideas are crowded together, particularly the sentence beginning “Lecture room is also replacement…,” which combines the lecture room, children’s area, seating, storytelling, and the former media room. Some references, such as “there” and “that place,” are difficult to follow. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and grouped details, and use clear location references to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a library plan, including “floor plan,” “enquiry desk,” “adult non-fiction books,” “lecture room,” and “self-service machines.” This gives you a workable range for the task, and several labels are reported accurately. However, spelling and word-choice problems are noticeable, including “avaible,” “availiable,” “replace,” and “fresh things.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “sitting place” and “different room was occupied,” which make the changes less clear. Aim for accurate map-description collocations and use precise verbs such as “was converted into,” “was relocated,” or “was added.” Check spelling carefully, especially for words copied from the plan.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect several ideas in longer sentences, but these complex structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between changes difficult to understand. Examples include “In the both diagram there is four room” and “Adult non fiction books and reading room was exists,” where articles, agreement, and verb forms are not controlled. Tense and sentence construction are also problematic in “there was on that place was a CDs…” The response relies heavily on long, joined sentences, with inconsistent spacing and punctuation. Use past tense for the earlier plan and present tense for the current one, and build shorter, complete sentences before attempting more complex comparisons.
