Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad scale of change and mention several relevant areas, including the former reading room becoming a computer room and the enquiry desk area becoming a café. However, the account is only partially accurate and leaves out important changes. For example, the former children’s books room became a lecture room, while the current children’s fiction and storytelling room occupies the former CDs and games room. You also misstate the adult-book changes: the former adult fiction area became reference books, and the former non-fiction area became adult fiction, not the reverse as your final paragraph suggests. Give a clearer overview of the main transformations and report these locations precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of the earlier and current plans. This gives the reader some sense of the comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow: the first description moves between the entrance, sides and northern areas without a consistent route, and the final paragraph mixes old and new features in the same sentence. Linking words such as “moreover” and “Analysis of the second chart reflects that” do not always clarify the relationship between details. Organise each plan systematically—for example, from the entrance upwards, then left to right—and use direct comparison phrases such as “whereas” and “in contrast” to make changes easier to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “reading room,” “adult fiction books,” “information desk” and “self service machines,” and you attempt to describe locations with terms such as “southern side” and “northern side.” This provides a minimally adequate range for the map. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “foor plan,” “enquir desk,” “referance books” and “nook returns,” which appears to mean book returns. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “how it created now” and “converted into adult fiction books.” Use accurate labels from the plan and practise standard map vocabulary such as “was replaced by,” “was relocated to” and “is situated in the northeast.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is uneven, and errors often make relationships between features unclear. For example, “almost everything is changed” uses an unsuitable tense, while “adult non fiction books is convverted” has subject–verb agreement problems. Several descriptions lack a clear grammatical structure, as in “above reading room and enquiry desk adult fiction books and non fictional books were located.” There are also inconsistent articles and sentence boundaries, including the comma after “reveals that” and the capitalisation after it. Build accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use the past tense for the earlier plan and the present tense for the current one.
