Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify that the library has changed and mention two relevant features: the former tables and chairs are gone, and a café has been added. However, the account is very limited and does not clearly summarise the main changes across the plan. Several details are inaccurate or unclear: the old plan has a reading room and an enquiry desk, not simply “six rooms,” and the games area is labelled for CDs, videos and computer games rather than being described as a place for children to play. The new plan’s lecture room, computer room, storytelling area, reference books and self-service machines are omitted. The response is also 9 words below the 150-word minimum. Develop a clear overview and compare the main areas more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an opening and successive points, using markers such as “first of all,” “secondly” and “after both comparison.” This gives the reader some indication of sequence. However, the overall progression is weak: the description moves between features without a clear, systematic comparison of the old and current plans, and the final statement that “almost everything is same” conflicts with the changes mentioned. Linking words are repetitive or awkward, and some references, such as “that” and “there,” are unclear. Group the information by location or by major changes, and use clear comparisons such as “whereas” and “in contrast” to connect the plans.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses a small set of task-related words, including “floor plan,” “entrance,” “enquiry desk,” “tables & chairs” and “cafe,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several inaccurate or misspelled forms make meaning less clear, including “futhermore,” “Addtionally,” “comparsion” and “mein.” Phrases such as “adult uses” and “there is nothing in the center” are imprecise for describing library facilities and spatial changes. Use specific labels from the plan and a wider range of accurate change vocabulary, such as “was replaced by,” “was converted into” and “remained unchanged.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences rely on simple patterns, and attempts to combine ideas often contain errors that make the description difficult to follow. For example, “The diagram illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “There is two diagram” has both agreement and number errors. The opening also runs together without appropriate sentence punctuation, and “in 20 years ago” uses an incorrect time construction. Verb forms and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, as in “it was set in tables&chairs.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using “while” or “whereas.” Check agreement, articles, past and present forms, and punctuation before submitting.
