The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given two maps outline the current and previous 20 years ago floor plan of central library.

Overall, the most string change in construction is related to technology. The area occupied is same in size. There are several additions to counter such as information desk, cafe, computer room, self-service machines, all references books and variety of sitting area from learners.

Initially, the outlook of previous map is quite decent. On the entrance, there are two specialised counters ; on the left hand there is reading room where individuals can read newspapers and magazines with ease. While, on the right hand, there is enquiry desk where borrow books are returned. Additionally, one can easily purchase tickets for library from there. On the centre, there are plenty of tables and chairs for pupils. Just behind the sitting area, there is availability of adults fiction books and on the opposite side, adult non-fiction book is also accessible. CDs, videos, computer games are situated on the top of the map, on the left hand. Whereas, children books space is located on the right hand.

The structure of current library is modern and advanced . With technological advancement, there is improvements in its construction. The cafe is launched. It is just near the entrance gate ; on the right hand. Opposite to it, there is a computer room. The tables and chairs that were placed in between are removed, it serves a spacious area for visitors. Information desk, adults fiction novel and self-service machines are situated at one placed just above the cafe. On the other hand, there is area specially for various references books. There are two fiction area one for children and another for adults. Children's fiction books are just above the reference area where new sofas are placed and storing telling event also occurred here. On the opposite side of story. telling event there is lecture room.
