The diagram shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it look today.

Overall there have been noticeable changes in the library from 20 years ago to today changing it completely to a new library.

On the very centre, there were tables and chairs for sitting in floor plan 20 years ago which have been removed today. Upon entrance on the immidiate left was a room for reading newsapers & magzines which have been replaced by a computer room today. In the area very next to first room on the left there were adult fiction books before but now the area has all reference books. On the last room on the left side CDs, videos, computer games were available before which have been now replaced with Children's fictions books and Storytelling events room. The room also have installed 2 sofas on both diagonal corners of the room which were not there 20 years ago.

After entering the library, there was an Enquiry desk for tickets, book returns etc on the first room on the right which have been changed into a cafe now. In the very next area to the first room on the right there were adult non-fiction books which now has adult fiction books, an information desk and some self-service machines. The very last room on the right side was filled with children's books 20 years ago which have been now known as a lecture room.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the library floor plan and provided a clear comparison between the two time periods. You covered all the key areas, such as the removal of the central seating and the repurposing of the various rooms. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide a more analytical overview. Instead of saying the library changed 'completely', try to highlight the most significant trend, such as the shift from a traditional reading space to a more multifunctional, technology-oriented environment. The information is accurate and well-selected, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

Your response is logically organized, with a clear progression from the general overview to specific details on the left and right sides of the library. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the very centre', 'Upon entrance', and 'After entering the library' to guide the reader. However, the paragraphing is a bit unbalanced; the second paragraph is quite long and contains many distinct points. Breaking this into two or three smaller paragraphs—perhaps grouping the left-side changes and right-side changes separately—would improve the flow and make the structure more professional.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the changes, using terms like 'repurposed', 'replaced', and 'multifunctional' (or similar descriptive language). There are some minor spelling errors, such as 'immidiate', 'newsapers', and 'magzines', which slightly detract from the quality. Additionally, some phrasing is a bit repetitive, such as 'the very next area to the first room'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise descriptors for spatial layout and functional changes would help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'how it look today' (should be 'looks'), 'sitting in floor plan' (should be 'in the floor plan'), and subject-verb agreement issues like 'The room also have installed' (should be 'has'). These errors are frequent but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past versus present states.
