The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Central Library 20 years ago

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The two maps compare central library, how it looks currently and 20 years ago. Overall, the area and position of library is same, but number of changes has been made including allocation of different books, furniture, and enquiry desk.

The enquiry desk was located at the left side of entrance, now replaced with a cafe, and a computer room has been constructed at the right side where there was a reading room previously. Moreover, two round tables along with chairs were removed from centre of library, and fiction books positioned at right of library are shifted to the left and and non-fiction books are now replaced with reference books. A self-service machines and information desk has been made at the left side. Finally, at the back of library, a lecture room has been build at the left and right side area is designated for children's fiction books and story telling events along with two sofa's, previously children's books and CD's, videos and computer games were there.
