Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response provides a clear overview of the changes in the library layout. You successfully identified the main features, such as the replacement of the enquiry desk with a cafe and the addition of new sections like the computer room. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a more sophisticated synthesis of the information. While you mention the removal of tables and chairs, some details are slightly inaccurate or confusingly phrased, such as the reference to 'tickets' at the enquiry desk. To improve, ensure you group information more logically to highlight the transformation rather than just listing changes area by area.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from the past to the present. You use some cohesive devices like 'In 20 years ago', 'Whereas', and 'Overall', but some of these are used incorrectly or sound unnatural. For instance, 'In 20 years ago' is grammatically incorrect and 'Whereas' is used as a sentence starter in a way that does not fit the context. The flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed due to these mechanical transitions. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help your ideas connect more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the library features clearly. However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice and non-standard phrasing, such as 'manufractured' instead of 'constructed' or 'built', and 'refurbished by cafe', which is not a standard collocation. You also use 'things' which is too vague for an academic report. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology related to floor plans and spatial changes, and ensure that your word forms are accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'In 20 years ago' (should be 'Twenty years ago'), 'there are many changes have done' (should be 'many changes have been made'), and 'some furnitures' (furniture is uncountable). Additionally, the use of articles and prepositions is inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice will significantly improve your accuracy.
