Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of the library's transformation. You have provided a clear overview and highlighted key changes, such as the addition of the cafe and the conversion of the reading room. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all changes are described with greater precision. For instance, you mention the 'book section' was reorganized, but you could be more specific about the movement of the adult fiction and reference sections. The summary is generally accurate, but some details, such as the exact location of the new facilities, could be more clearly linked to the original layout to better facilitate comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on specific areas of change. You use transition signals like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader. However, some cohesive devices are used slightly awkwardly, such as 'at the place of' or 'nearby it', which makes the flow feel a bit mechanical. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when describing the movement of sections. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would help elevate the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modernized', 'reorganized', 'relocated', and 'contemporary era'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that slightly hinder the precision of your descriptions. For example, 'at the place of' is better expressed as 'replaced' or 'occupies the site of', and 'at the beside of' is grammatically incorrect. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations related to spatial descriptions and floor plans, ensuring that your vocabulary is both natural and accurate in an academic context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'some traditional areas removed' (missing auxiliary verb), 'to introduced sofas' (incorrect verb form), and 'Children's fiction books section relocated at the beside of' (preposition error). There are also issues with article usage, such as 'Cafe has been placed'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing changes in a diagram. Reducing these frequent minor errors will significantly improve your score.
