Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response covers all the main features of the floor plan changes. You successfully identified the key transformations, such as the removal of tables, the conversion of the reading room, and the addition of the cafe and lecture room. The overview is clear and sets the tone for the report. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are fully accurate; for instance, you mentioned the adult fiction section was replaced by reference books, but you should ensure the spatial descriptions are precise. Overall, the task is well-addressed with a clear summary of the main trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized, moving from a general overview to specific details on the left and right sides of the library. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the introduction/overview from the body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'To the left of the entrance', 'On the right side', and 'Finally' are used to guide the reader through the changes. While the flow is generally good, some transitions could be smoother to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. Referencing is generally clear, and the information is presented in a logical progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'multifunctional community hub', 'converted', and 'redesigned'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'refrance' (reference), 'matchines' (machines), and 'ben' (been). Additionally, 'quite book lending space' is slightly awkward; 'quiet' or 'traditional' would be more appropriate. To improve, focus on accurate spelling and more precise collocations to describe the changes in the floor plan.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'The diagram illustrates the two different picture' (should be 'pictures') and 'which now have been' (should be 'have now been'). The phrase 'an holding all refrance book' is grammatically incorrect and lacks clarity. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
