Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers the main features of the library floor plan and makes relevant comparisons between the two time periods. You have identified the key changes, such as the conversion of the reading room to a computer room and the addition of a cafe. However, the overview is slightly generic; it would be more effective to highlight the most significant structural changes rather than just stating it has been 'revamped'. While all parts of the task are addressed, the description of the layout could be more precise in terms of spatial orientation (e.g., mentioning north, south, or central positions) to better guide the reader through the changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the changes. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear—for instance, 'which is removed now' lacks a clear antecedent. The progression of information is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by varying the structure of your cohesive links to make the text feel more natural and less like a list of changes.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'revamped', 'modernized', and 'converted'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'in present time' (should be 'at present' or 'currently') and 'with the facilities like' (should be 'such as'). While you successfully describe the changes, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise synonyms for spatial changes and library-specific terminology to avoid relying on basic verbs like 'is' or 'was'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and articles. For example, 'had been demonstrated' is an incorrect tense for describing a static diagram; 'is demonstrated' would be more appropriate. You also have issues with subject-verb agreement and missing articles, such as 'there was a adult non-fiction books rack' (should be 'an adult') and 'a information desk' (should be 'an information desk'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score.
