Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers the main features of the floor plan changes well. You successfully identified the key additions (cafe, computer room, lecture room) and the removal of the central seating area. However, the overview is slightly weak; while you mention technology, it could be more precise. The description of the layout is generally clear, but some details are slightly inaccurate or confusing, such as the location of the 'information desk' and 'self-service machines' which are described as being 'just above the cafe' without clear spatial context. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most significant structural shifts rather than just listing additions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs representing the two time periods. You use some cohesive devices like 'Initially', 'Whereas', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, 'On the centre' and 'at one placed' are unnatural. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the past and present, which helps the reader follow the comparison. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'it', 'there') is always clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the floor plan, using terms like 'specialised counters', 'technological advancement', and 'spacious area'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'most striving change' (likely meant 'striking'), 'outlook of previous map', and 'storing telling event' (meant 'storytelling'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do show a lack of precision. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise spatial descriptors would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the library', 'the entrance'), prepositions ('on the centre' instead of 'in the centre'), and subject-verb agreement ('there is improvements'). Some sentences are also slightly fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'The tables and chairs that were placed in between are removed, it serves a spacious area'. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of articles would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
