The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram represents the area plan of a public library at present and how it looked 20 years ago.

Overall, most of the area looks completely modified, with a clear hallway, some bigger rooms and the addition of new sections of books and a cafe at present.

The children's books section 20 years ago was replaced with a lecture room, whereas there was no CDs, video games and computer games section now, but we can see an expanded conducive room with sofas and children's fiction books where storytelling events take place.

The reading room before was replaced with a computer room, and the adult fiction books section was replaced with all reference books, and it was moved to the other side with an information desk and self-service machines, which were not there 20 years back.

Another big change we can see now is the addition of a cafe at the section where the enquiry desk was before. In addition, the tables and chairs and the adult non-fiction books were removed at present.
