The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given diagrams compares the changes in the floor plan of a central library between two decades ago and present time.

Overall, tables and chairs are removed to wider the space for the introduction new activities and technology such as, self-service machines, storytelling events, and cafe while the entrance gate is at same location.

Twenty years ago, there was children's books in right-upper side of the library which is now converted into a lecture room with the addition of an information desk and self-service machines just under that area. Moreover, on the right-lower corner, the enquiry desk is area is converted to a cafe. The chairs and tables placed 20 years before in the centre of the library have been removed now.

In the left-upper side, the small area for CD, video and computer game has been replaced by a wider space room for the organising a sitting place for storytelling events and children's fiction books. Under that, all reference books are now kept at the place of adult fiction books, which is moved toward right-side. Lastly, the reading room at the left-lower corner is converted to computer room.
