Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response provides a basic overview of the changes, but it lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band. While you identify the main features, the description is somewhat repetitive and lacks precise comparisons. For example, stating 'the entering point is same' is accurate, but you miss the opportunity to describe the spatial transformation more effectively. The summary of the 'overall' changes is quite brief. To improve, ensure you group the information logically—perhaps by comparing the zones (e.g., the transition from a reading area to a lecture room) rather than listing features chronologically. This would demonstrate a better ability to highlight the most significant changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'and also' and 'in the bottom' are used frequently, which makes the flow feel stilted. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and some sentences are joined awkwardly, such as 'and and childrens books room'. To improve, try using a wider range of transition signals like 'whereas', 'subsequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your ideas more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that your referencing is clear so the reader can easily track which part of the library you are describing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple descriptors like 'many', 'big', and 'place'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'a cafe is builds' (should be 'built') and 'the library condition' (which is slightly unnatural in this context). To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to floor plans and spatial changes, such as 'relocated', 'converted', 'replaced', or 'expanded'. Avoiding repetitive phrasing will also help demonstrate a more flexible range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('diagrams describes', 'maps illustrates') and incorrect preposition usage ('in the left ground place'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. You should focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and improving your control over tense consistency. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic structures prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Practice using relative clauses or passive voice to describe the changes to the library layout.
