Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the floor plan changes, such as the addition of the cafe and the lecture room, and the relocation of various sections. However, the description is occasionally unclear, particularly regarding the spatial layout. For example, the phrase 'certain new era fostered' is vague and does not describe the physical changes to the library. While the main trends are identified, the lack of precision in describing the locations (e.g., 'in it opposite side') makes it difficult for the reader to visualize the changes accurately. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To initiat with' and 'Apart from this'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the final paragraph where multiple changes are listed in a somewhat cluttered manner. Referencing is occasionally confusing, making it difficult to track which area of the library is being discussed. Improved use of linking words and clearer signposting would enhance the flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the basic meaning, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that hinder precision. Examples include 'redevlopment acoording to', 'printetd book', and 'sofas implements'. The student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'floor plan', 'self-service machines'), but the overall range is limited. Spelling errors are also present throughout the text, which detracts from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 response. More attention to accurate word forms and spelling is needed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('tables and chairs are available... which was removed'), incorrect tense usage ('recently opened a cafe where people did enquiry'), and awkward phrasing ('children's can read'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with apostrophes and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
