Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the library's transformation. You covered the key changes, such as the conversion of the enquiry desk to a cafeteria and the reading room to a computer room. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview of the most significant trends. While you mention a 'huge difference', you could improve by grouping the changes more logically (e.g., structural changes versus functional changes). Additionally, some details are slightly inaccurate or confusing, such as the mention of 'sofas were installed in CDs, videos, computer games room', which is grammatically unclear and lacks precision regarding the layout changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between the description of the reading room and the children's room is abrupt. You rely on simple sentence structures, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly. Paragraphing is present, but the body paragraphs could be better balanced to improve the overall progression of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'renovated', 'modification', and 'conversion'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'comparing to how it looks today' is slightly unnatural; 'compared with' would be more appropriate. The phrase 'installed in CDs, videos, computer games room' is awkward and lacks clarity. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing floor plans, such as 'relocated', 'replaced by', or 'transformed into', and ensure that your collocations are natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect the clarity of your writing. For example, 'there is a huge difference among the two libraries' should be 'between the two'. You also have issues with article usage and pluralization, such as 'adult fiction books was replaced' (should be 'were replaced'). While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
