The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The two diagrams illustrate the floor plans of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks today.

There are multiple changes in the layout, while there is remove of tables and chairs from middle. New facilities are added such as computer room, cafe and lecture room.

Central library 20 years ago had the entrance from south side, on its right was enquiry desk and on its left was reading room. Middle of the library has tables and chairs, while around it has adult fiction and non-fiction books. On top most west and east corner has CDs and videos and children's books respectively.

In today's plan the entrance is same as before, but there are change in rooms and added multiple facilities. On one side of the entrance have a cafe and on other side a computer room. Moving forward all the reference books is put together and an information desk is located on the opposite side. On left-top corner have two sofas and children's books and lecture room on right corner.
