IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given schematic diagram illustrates the construction plan of the first floor of a public library 20 years ago and compared it with it's recent look.

Overall, the first plan shows the simplicity of the old time where only the necessary rooms and tables were there. On the other hand, the new plan show the modern mindset of people which includes the more items and rooms.

In the old plan, Tables and chairs were placed in the front of the entrance which is comfortable for readers. Book sections were placed on the both sides of tables, where adult fiction and adult non-fiction books were stored. There was also a reading room and an enquiry desk for the convenience of the visitors. In addition, the games, CDs and computer games section were also on the left side of the children's books section.

On the other hand, the new plan reflects the idea of modern era. A Cafe is added there on the right side of the entry and a proper computer room for the students as well as for teachers on the left side of entrance. The self service machines are introduced for the people and there is a specific room for Children's fiction books where the story telling events take place. At the last, There is a lecture room for schoclars
